Home sweet home!
Yes, 500 days of summer is in the tags. Is that where I first heard it? No, but it is for some people… but it doesn’t matter. It’s a damn good song, so who gives a shit?
Thought vomit goes here
my new babies!
Carly Rae Jepsen’s hit song has permeated every aspect of college life: it gets stuck in your head during exams, guys jam out to it shamelessly, and girls bop around their rooms like twelve year olds belting into their comb-turned-mics.
I didn’t even think it was possible to make this song soulful, regardless of how catchy and fun it is, but I was wrong. I was wrong in the worst way possible. Ben Howard is an English singer-songwriter, mostly involved with the folk genre. At first, I thought he was taking himself a bit too seriously with the haunting guitar and cello paired with a huge smash hit with millions and millions of hits, but then he smirks. With that smirk, I realized he knew that the lyrics were completely ridiculous to be paired with such a seemingly morose sound, but that’s why he did it. He’s poking fun in the best way possible: making it better than it was.
And thank god he did. I will be listening on repeat to this as I am doing my final studying night of the year, and for a while to come. Check it out…you’ll be glad you did.
Almost time to sell my books. Do I really have to carry all of those?
Ps: thanks to my sister for leaving these shoes at home so I could take them.
